So I wrote a song entitled “Intentional Love.”
What comes to mind when you hear the word “love?”
For many love means sex. For many love means affection.
I would like to say that love is all of the above but I want add on that love is taking initiative and being intentional.
Making a daily decision to be intentional, even when we do not fully understand is one of the greatest acts of love that we can give someone. It says to that person, “you see me,” and “you hear me.” This goes way beyond the fantasies of how love is portrayed on social media. Intentional love is the personalization of one’s love to a specific person. It’s when that “love” is customized just for that special person. The same can be applied in friendships. I’ll write more on that in the next blog.
For my singles, if you are wanting to evaluate something about someone that you are interested in, evaluate how intentional they are with you. If you are able to spot a tangible intentionality early on, it is a good sign. There are marriages that go on for years and as years are counting up, intentional love is dying down.
My wife and I have been married for over 9 years now and we recently had a major breakthrough in this area. I am realizing that my wife is not asking for me to check off a checklist to show her that I love her. She just wants me to be intentional with what I already know about her even if it does not seem that it would make a difference.
No matter what season of life you are in. Let’s be intentional.
Would you be interested in hearing a sneak peek of the song “Intentional Love?” If so, let me know in the comments below and I will schedule something visually so you can hear the song way before it gets released. I’ll let you in on the album artwork before everyone sees it. But you have to keep it a secret!
